Vertner Roosevelt “V.R.” Hatton, 83, retired Xalapa Farms employee, U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Lexington VA Medical Center. He was born November 15, 1932 in North Middletown, Kentucky, son of the late Pierce Winn and Roxie Pearl Jackson Hatton. Mr. Hatton was a graduate of North Middletown High School and was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan and horse racing fan. He is survived by his wife of almost fifty-nine years, Katherine Estes Hatton of Paris; a son, Rick (Kim) Hatton of Cynthiana; two daughters, Brenda (Mike) Kendall of Paris, Cheryl (Larry) Doucet of Grayson; six grandchildren, Megan Hatton of Waddy, Jacqueline Doucet of Lexington, Nathan (Amber) Hatton of Cynthiana, Whitney (Tyler) Davidson of Cynthiana, Larry (Paige) Doucet II of Lexington, Alex Kendall of Paris; nine great grandchildren, Trey, Madison, Audrey, Tyler, Mason, Morgan, Tripp, Hunter, and a baby girl due in December; two sisters, Gladys Bergin, Priscilla Ray; a brother, Paul Hatton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a son, Randall Dean Hatton; a granddaughter, Courtney Kendall; and two sisters, Alice Carpenter and Judy Hatton. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 8, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home followed by a service at 1:00 p.m. with burial in Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Larry Doucet II, Nathan Hatton, Alex Kendall, Paul Dean Hatton, Gary Hatton, and Greg Tuttle. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made to the Lexington VA Medical Center Voluntary Service, 1101 Veterans Drive, Lexington, KY 40502.
