Obituary for Pauline Caldwell (Linville)

Pauline  Caldwell (Linville)
Pauline Linville Caldwell, 97, died Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Johnson Mathers Nursing Home in Carlisle, Kentucky. She was native of Carlisle, and daughter of the late George Butler and Ruby Reed Linville. A graduate of Carlisle High School, she was the valedictorian of the class of 1938. She attended the University of Kentucky and Lexington Secretarial Studio. After the entry of the U.S. in World War II, she served as secretary to the Commanding Officer at Bluegrass Army Signal Depot for nine years. She was the organist for the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Carlisle for over 50 years and played for numerous weddings and community social events. She was an avid horsewoman and rode on many hunts with the Central Kentucky Foxhunters’ Association. A sister, Helen Ruth Linville, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, William Shanklin Caldwell; a son, William Reed Caldwell; a daughter, Mary Squires Caldwell; two grandsons, William Breckenridge Caldwell (Debbie), Alexander Reed Caldwell (Tara); and two great grandchildren, Kyndra Alysse Caldwell and Nathaniel Reed Caldwell. Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Sharon Fields at the Millersburg Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2017. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Carlisle, Kentucky, or Bluegrass Hospice Care, Cynthiana, Kentucky.
