James Millard Ballard, 69, a retired painter, husband of Oma Smith Ballard, died Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at his home. He was born July 25, 1948 in Irvine, son of the late Art and Millie Spicer Ballard. In addition to his wife, James is survived by a son, James Arthur Ballard, Millersburg; two stepdaughters, Cindy Ross, Cynthiana, Connie Smith, Irvine; six brothers, T.J. Ballard, Lewis Ballard, both of Paris, Melvin Ballard, Cynthiana, O.J. Ballard, Travis Ballard, Walter Ballard, all of Carlisle; five sisters, Rose (Roy) Dray, Paris, Linda (David) Evans, Martha (Tony) Dray, both of Carlisle, Emma Ballard, Paris, Mary Turpin, Irvine; three sisters-in-law, Elly (James) Hixon, Barbara (Carl) Kenney, Cathy Stinnett; two brothers-in-law, J.R. Smith, Roger (Donna) Smith; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. A daughter, Jacqualin Ballard, preceded him in death. Visitation will be11:00 a.m. Friday, March 2, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Brandon Tubbs, T.J. Ballard, Calela Ross, J.R. Smith, David Evans, and O.J. Ballard. James Arthur Ballard will serve at honorary bearer.
